Hannah Foslien is a documentary photographer who specializes in sports. She grew up surrounded by sports – from her father’s stories of winning the Big Ten Individual Championship in the 2-mile for the University of Minnesota to the dreams of a young girl twirling around the living room wanting to be Kristie Yamaguchi. While her hopes of becoming a professional athlete have long been dashed, she was lucky enough to have also been introduced to the magic of photography at an early age. Photography gave her the chance to freeze time and to tell stories without words.
Hannah’s career began in 2006 as the Photography Intern at the Minnesota Twins and since then she has covered everything from MLB & NFL playoff games to Presidential visits to high school sports. Hannah’s work is known for its clean, concise storytelling images that are driven by the emotion of the game, rather than moments of peak action. Her work has appeared in Sports Illustrated, The New York Times, ESPN and The Players’ Tribune as well as at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. She is currently the President of Visual MN.
